The Comfort of God’s Word

Several months ago, our Pastor challenged the young couples’ class to consider this passage for our homes:

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. -Deuteronomy 6:6-9

I took the challenge and set out to find ways to do this! One of my favorite ways to display Scripture is to incorporate free printables from Pinterest into smaller frames throughout the house. Using free printables affords me the opportunity to change the prints depending on the encouragement we need! Here’s the one I’m currently displaying on my entry table. We walk past this print multiple times every day.

come boldly

Something else I’ve done for a long time is to leave a hymn book open on the piano. If I’ve heard a song that has ministered to my heart, I’ll leave it out on the piano so that I’m reminded of the words every time I walk by. Right now I have an old dog-eared book open to this old song…

Burdens Are Lifted

I find myself singing those precious words, and the burdens begin to lift!

“Cast your care on Jesus today
Leave your worries and fears.
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near!”

Could your home use some encouragement and comfort from the Scriptures?
