Last year I shared our New Year’s resolution – you can read about that here – and I’m happy to report we did very well with it! We had lots of sweet times together on date night. This year we agreed to make another resolution as a couple.
Our resolution this year is to spend time praying together at least once a week (praying together before meals doesn’t count for this). It’s something we always intend to do, but often have difficulty making time to accomplish.
Why prayer?
“Because prayer communicates our dependence on God, our comprehension that we are, indeed, desperate for God’s presence and help. When we pray, we are enlisting, invoking, inviting divine assistance. We’re asking God to come in.” (via)
Where do we need those things more than in our marriage relationships? We have many things we want God to do in us and for us during the year ahead. We’ve learned that facing unemployment, disappointment and life in general can be miserable if we face it on our own. We are desperate to invite Jesus into our home.
“If two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 18:19-20
You are welcome to join us in our resolution! Accountability is always helpful. Who’s in?
UPDATE 1/2016: Here’s how we did with our resolution!
I’m not always for resolutions, but love this one! Something we could certainly work on as well!

I’ve never been one to make resolutions either. It helps when it’s something you really care about, like your man! 🙂

Great goal!! I’ve never made a couple’s resolution so you’ve got me thinking about it now. We try to pray together before bed, but could definitely be more consistent about it.

I’m looking forward to the benefits of keeping this resolution, for sure!
