July 4th Weekend {2020}

July 4th wasn’t much different for us than usual – Paul often works on the 4th, and I’m not a huge fan of fireworks or sitting out in the heat – so not having parades or fireworks shows didn’t bother us. 🙂

I headed to Tennessee on Thursday evening and spent the first part of the weekend with my family!

My mom, sister and I were able to have a lunch and shopping trip! We don’t take those for granted, especially after the spring of closed stores and restaurants.

Aunt life is the best life with these two! They are so funny and smart, saying things like “That was refreshing!” after taking a drink of water, or “I need to check my messages” while holding my phone. 🙂

Who doesn’t love a trip to a good Dollar Tree? 🙂

I came home early on Saturday afternoon and whipped up a batch of deviled eggs + a few other appropriate foods for the 4th! We had a literal front row seat to our neighborhood fireworks, as several houses on our street decided to put on their own shows. I imagine it was like that in a lot of neighborhoods this year!

How did you celebrate the 4th? I hope you had a great weekend!

  1. My husband also worked this 4th. He’s a firefighter and filled in for the day. What does your hubby do that he had to work? I was able to spend some fun time with my nephew who was home on leave from the Marines.

  2. Great pictures, Whitney. I love the one of you with your mom (she’s adorable) and sister. We took a nice back road drive on the Fourth. That evening our neighborhood sounded like a war zone so we just stayed in a tried to assure our poor dog that everything was okay.
