I feel like it is always important to look back on the month and recall the blessings and highlights, but especially now when we are constantly reminded how “miserable” this year is. Personally, I’m choosing joy. I’m not thrilled with everything that’s going on but I don’t have to let that ruin my life!

Here are the highlights from July!

Paul’s 40th Birthday was definitely the highlight of the month! Although it wasn’t the celebration I originally planned, it was a really fun time!

I got to spend a couple days with my family in Tennessee at the beginning of the month. We shopped, ate, and just enjoyed being together.

My sister and her family came to town a few weeks later, and we all enjoyed supper and ice cream at our favorite places. My nephews bring such joy to our family. I’m always thankful for family time!

I decided to give my laundry closet a makeover, and that project has lasted all month! I had no idea how hard it would be tackle such a small space!

I’m almost done with the project and can’t wait to share it with you soon! Here’s a little sneak peek.

Favorite Verses from July:

For the Lord is the one who shaped the mountains, stirs up the winds, and reveals his thoughts to mankind. He turns the light of dawn into darkness and treads on the heights of the earth. The Lord God of Heaven’s Armies is his name! -Amos 4:13

The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion. When a land transgresses, it has many rulers, but with a man of understanding and knowledge, its stability will long continue. Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law strive against them. Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the Lord understand it completely. -Proverbs 28:1-5

I’m also still enjoying listening to New Morning Mercies on Audible. A few quotes from this month’s reading:

  • As God’s child, you don’t sit and wait for hope. No, grace makes it possible for you to get up and live in hope.
  • Your hope is not based on how well you are doing, but on what Jesus has done for you.

Other than that, I’ve kept it pretty low key this month (not unlike Peggy is doing above). 🙂 Days that are 90 degrees or more make me want to just hang out under a fan. While there are lots of things to be thankful for and to enjoy – I’m counting down the days until fall! 🙂

Don’t forget that my Happy Homemaker Instagram Challenge starts tomorrow! I hope you’ll make plans to join me!

  1. Yes! More Joy is necessary these days. Your highlights sounded like so much fun – birthdays, family, home projects and cats. Peggy has the right idea. Lots of R&R this weekend.
