This Month’s Highlights

The first weekend of the month my sister came down for a little 24 hour getaway. We don’t get a lot of time with just the two of us (although we see each other frequently) and it was nice to have that time just to ourselves!

We ate good food, shopped, watched our favorite shows and talked about all the things. Alli has always been one of Thelma Lou’s favorite people!

The next weekend my sister came down with her whole family. I got to spend the afternoon with my nephews while she and my BIL had a dinner date (we have the best date night restaurants here!).

We had lots of fun together. They are so precious, funny, and love playing with Uncle Paul!

I took my own advice – we attended a gospel music concert last weekend! It is always so encouraging to listen to two hours of music that rejoices in the gospel and reminds us that we are never alone in our trials.

I’m also very proud of the fact that I’ve made Paul a gospel music fan over the last 12 years! He makes a great concert date. đ
Current Beauty Favorites
With prices on the rise, you might be looking for affordable beauty products. I’ve updated my Amazon favorites with more than 20 of the skin care, makeup and hair products I’m currently using. When I’m ready to repurchase any of those items, I always compare the price between Amazon, Target and Ulta to see who has the best deal (and who has it in stock!).

I have begun exclusively using Bath and Body Works Shower Gel and Ultimate Hydration Body Cream. Although these are more expensive than something I could grab at Target, they last so much longer and do a much better job.
I never pay full price for anything B&BW – I always wait for the Semi-Annual sales where I can stock up on their 60-75% clearance prices! The next one should start mid-June.
While we’re on this topic, I have to mention my new Silk Sleep Mask. I don’t know how I ever lived (slept) without it! I feel a little bit like Alexis Rose when I wear it, but I’m telling you that it is life changing. If you like sleeping in a dark room, you need one of these! I go to sleep faster and stay asleep longer when I have it on.

Bible Reading Favorites
I’m continuing my “what do I see about God in this passage?” quest for 2022. One thing I wrote down after reading Exodus 36 is this: God gives me the desire and the ability to do his will.
I’m not the one mustering up the desire to read the Bible every day. God does that in my heart. I’m not the one making myself capable of parenting a stranger. God does that through me.
In Leviticus 15 (historically my least favorite chapter of the Bible), I saw that while the blood of the people made them unclean, the blood of the Sacrificial Lamb makes them clean (Isaiah 53:10-12). “His blood can make the foulest clean – His blood avails for me!”
This is the gospel. Preaching this to myself reminds me that the power of Jesus that saves me from my sin also gives me the desire and the ability to do His will.
Whatever God’s will is for you today, whether it’s completing another day in your Bible reading plan or making a major life change, He can give you the desire and the ability to do it.

My March email newsletter will go out next Tuesday. Make sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss the exclusive content I share there! It’s also the one-stop shop for all the things I’ve shared/posted/talked about this month.
One more thing – my Mom is speaking at a Ladies Retreat this spring. It’s being hosted at a camp in North Carolina and is open to anyone who wants to register. This is a very nice conference center with clean accommodations and great food. You can find all the details here. I’ll be there – and we would love to see you there too! đ

I love your monthly recaps! Itâs just cool to see how God is using everything to bring about his plan. I love your quote about God putting in your heart to love a stranger, and also prompting you to read His Word! I stand in amazement that the Author speaks to our hearts as we lean in to hear His voice!
Thank you for encouraging others to attend the ladiesâ retreat. Anything good that will happen is because God is faithful. I hope many will join us to see how He will encourage and strengthen our hearts at a time when we all surely need it!
