If you dread the annual chore of wrapping Christmas presents, you’re not alone. It seems the vast majority of us loathe this task. However, I’m not one of those people (I love wrapping gifts!), and I am here to help you make it a little easier this year!

My best tip for Christmas gift wrapping —> Set up a gift wrap station that you can use all season long. This will house all the supplies you need to wrap any gift, from a last minute gift card for a teacher gift all the way to the mountains of gifts that will be opened on Christmas morning.

I found this over the door organizer at Five Below a couple years ago, but you can also find some options around $10 on Amazon or at Walmart. You don’t have to spend $140 at The Container Store!

Gather all your gift wrap supplies and organize them in the way that makes the most sense to you. This will also help you to know what you have and what you need to pick up at the store.

Think of all the gifts you’ll wrap this Christmas and make sure you have the right supplies for what you need. Don’t forget little things like plates of cookies or neighbor gifts that might just need a bow or a tag.

I like to keep these things in my gift wrap station:

  • Tape
  • Scissors (several pair because they always disappear!)
  • Tissue Paper
  • Gift Tags: Sticky tags and fancy tags
  • Ribbon: Wide ribbon for bigger gifts and curling ribbon for treat bags
  • Treat Bags for food gifts or other small items
  • Paper shred for treat bags

I always keep the wrapping paper rolls in a bin like this so that it’s easy to see what I have. You could use an empty laundry basket (although empty laundry baskets are hard to find around the house, aren’t they? 🙂 ) or any bin you have in your stash.

When the last gift is wrapped and Christmas is over, I pack everything up in a tote that fits under our bed. I take the hanging organizer off the door and pack it in the tote as well so that it’s ready to go next year.

Loose ribbon goes in a big ziploc bag and I only keep the gift bags I think I’ll use. Those things seem to multiply while you’re sleeping!

I hope this tip makes gift wrapping a little less of a hassle and a lot more fun!
