Welcome to my 2022 Christmas home tour! Let’s walk around the house together and I’ll show you how I’ve decorated for my favorite time of year.

I use the bookshelf as my “mantle.” This spot is my favorite of the season!

I feel like this post requires a disclaimer – my house doesn’t look exactly like this right now. It looks mostly like this, but I took some of these pictures in November and things have changed a little bit at our house since then!

I didn’t put out as much decor as I usually do, but I made sure that every room felt festive.

I love this view first thing in the morning or late in the evening. Pretty much the whole reason for putting lights on the deck is so that I can enjoy them through the kitchen window!

I found a spot for my White Christmas signs – one on the counter and one in the laundry room. The Columbia Inn sign is a more subtle nod to my favorite Christmas movie, but I also adore the bright vintage feel of the movie poster.

Just outside the laundry room is this plate rack that features my Radko plates. I’ve had those since I set up house in my first apartment.

I love this quote from the December 24 page of my Elisabeth Elliot Daily Calendar. “God came down and lived in this same world as a man. He showed us how to live in this world, subject to its vicissitudes and necessities, that we might be changed into saints in this world. The secret is Christ in me, not me in a different set of circumstances.”

But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. (Hebrews 2:9)

Things have changed around our house because we’ll be a family of FIVE this Christmas. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, read more about this in my latest adoption update.

Extra chairs at the table means putting in the leaf to create more room. We’ve always used this table as a round top for 4 people, but the leaf makes it an oval – which gives me a longer surface for a centerpiece. Yay!

I picked up this lighted flocked garland at Dollar General last year in their after Christmas clearance. It’s exactly what I wanted here – soft and natural (albeit super messy).

Usually I set out all our Christmas cards from years past, but this year I only displayed the one from 2021 along with framed photos of our new family members. I wish I could share those pictures here!

Since shooting these pictures, I’ve added a basket on the top of this stand for collecting Christmas cards as they come in the mail.

The coffee table decor is extra simple this year, so that it can be easily moved to create room for a game of Uno or Trouble. ❤

I was inspired by this photo from Southern Lady Magazine on Instagram and put together a similar arrangement using things I had in my stash..

One of my favorite things about Christmas decor is noticing the reflection of Christmas lights throughout the house. I love how the tree lights are reflected in the mirror on my bookshelf!

Thanks for stopping by on this year’s Christmas home tour! I have preached for years the importance of doing the best you can with the time and resources that you have. That’s what I did this year.

I don’t have a giant, amazing living room tree or themed trees in every room. I didn’t spend a dime on new decor or extra lights, except for the new stockings for our kiddos.

I do have a cozy, festive and inviting home filled with people I love. We will gather to celebrate Jesus who came to bring hope and joy to our sad and broken world. How great is that?!

Join me in doing your best with what you have and choosing contentment as we focus on Jesus. He IS joy!

  1. It’s beautiful! I confess I teared up a bit when I saw the “Welcome Home” message on the chalkboard.💕 Merry Christmas to you all!

  2. Absolutely beautiful! Makes me want to sit down for a cup of coffee. Also, your grandparents would be thrilled to know that the table will be seating five very soon!! Oh, the goodness of God!!
