Last week I encouraged you with a reminder to continue your housekeeping habits. I know that for many of us, keeping the house from looking like a war zone is a daily uphill battle.
I also know that it is up to us as women to create that comfortable, cozy, peaceful feeling in our homes. We have the power to do that! I love this task so much – it’s definitely more fun as a wife, but I even enjoyed cozying up my home as a single person!
Here are a few simple things you can do to make your time at home more enjoyable during quarantine:
#1 Make a special dessert, breakfast or treat
This takes work and extra effort, but it’s worth it! Make your husband’s favorite cookies or get up early to surprise your family with pancakes. I know we’re all cooking more than usual anyway, but this is a great way to enhance those every day meals.
#2 Set the table
This doesn’t have to be fancy, but setting the table with a few simple extras – and inviting everyone to eat their meal at the table together – really elevates the experience.
We always turn on “dinner music” when we eat at the table. Usually it’s instrumental Disney music, Michael Buble or Frank Sinatra, but you could have fun with it and play Mariachi Music for Taco Night!

#3 Display Fresh Flowers
I spent $4 at on a bouquet of pink carnations during my weekly grocery store run, but you can probably find something in your yard that will work too! The camellia bush in our yard is still blooming – that’s where the smaller flower in the bud vase came from! It’s amazing how much difference can be made by one small arrangement of fresh flowers.
#4 Work on a simple home project
I almost always have a pile of pictures and decor items that I buy, intending to hang – but I seem to never get around to actually hanging them! This year it has been my goal (quarantine notwithstanding) to finish those little projects one by one. I can’t tell you how much of an impact it makes to hang just a few small things!
#5 Burn your good candles
One of my favorite things about Christmas time is the cozy glow of the Christmas lights all over the house. I am trying to recreate that feeling as much as possible right now by burning candles frequently. I don’t have a huge stash on hand, so right now my house might smell like pumpkins or pine trees – but at least it’s cozy!
I haven’t gone so far as to decorate my house for Christmas – but I would be lying if I said the idea hadn’t crossed my mind. π For now I’ll just enjoy my pictures from last year. π
So here’s my challenge to you – do one of these things this week! Pick one of these “extras” and give it a try. I would love to know how it goes for you! If you want to share a picture on Instagram, please tag me @homeforcomfort so I can see! β€
