Summer is definitely here! Let’s jump into the highlights from June.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

We kicked off the month with our trip to Lake Keowee, which you can read about here. There were lots of hot days this month where I wished I could jump back into this pool! (Doesn’t Paul look great with my hat and pool floatie?) 🙂

Last weekend we attended our favorite small town “Freedom Blast,” an early July 4th event that focuses mostly on honoring our local veterans.

The weather was surprisingly mild, with cloud cover and temps in the low 80’s. Everyone loves the sky divers that parachute in with the flag!

I spent the rest of my weekends working in my home office. I decluttered, I cleaned, and I painted. Here’s the basic before and after of the color change – what a nice difference! (Sherwin Williams Ice Cube)

It was a busy month at work with some extra projects, and I went through a lot of iced coffee between the home projects and the busy work days.

We didn’t do any landscaping in the front yard this year, but the back yard always looks so lush and green after it’s been mowed. I don’t love the heat, but I love how pretty everything is right now.

FAVORITE PRODUCTS

I tried a new-to-me range of skin care that I’m loving. My favorite beauty YouTuber frequently talks about the ELF “Holy Hydration” moisturizers and I decided to give it a try. I’m in love! It’s extremely affordable but feels very high quality. Here’s what I have:

If you’re more normal to oily, you probably don’t need the Face Cream. I’m always on the dry side and it’s exactly what I need every once and a while.

I also ordered the ELF Bite Sized Eye Shadow – I Love You A Latte: ($3) for a quick and easy summer eye look. The pigmentation and the staying power are great.

BIBLE READING FAVORITES

I’m loving The Bible Recap plan for reading the Bible in a year. I have a list in my Google Keep app where I record what I learn about God or how I see Him at work in each day’s reading.

Every morning after I listen to that day’s Scripture, I add a sentence to my list. Here are a few that I wrote down this month:

  • God’s way is hope, life, and joy
  • God sees everything: the wicked and the good, but God is near to the righteous
  • God directs even the steps of the person who seems courageous and independent
  • Fearing God brings joy and freedom from envy and discontentment
  • God is bigger than the work I do for him
  • God cares about the poor
  • God brings purpose, joy, and meaning to even this life that is marked by sin, by pointing us always to eternity in our hearts
  • God gives. The gods of this world take.
  • God uses people who the world considers to be poor or worthless, even though he really doesn’t need them to accomplish his purpose. God can use me.
  • God is so merciful to people who really don’t deserve it – like King Ahab…and me.

Happy is the one whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them. He remains faithful forever, executing justice for the exploited and giving food to the hungry. The Lord frees prisoners. Psalm 146:5-7
